Mystery Interview
Project plan
October:
- The teachers get to know each other by means of a
videocall and agree on the deadlines and the outline of the project
- students' registration and first interaction on the
Twinspace.
- Students present themselves by means of an Avatar
and a short description on a Twinboard
November-December:
- logo contest: students in groups prepare a logo for
the project and vote for the best one
- Each nationality prepares a Kahoot! quiz about their
own countries to be played by the other partners.
-each class has at least one videoconference with
another nationality to comment what they found out about the other country
(November)
- Groups or pairs of students from each country record
a short video (3-8 minutes) in which one host will interview one or more
mysterious guests. These must be internationally known artists, musicians,
politicians or scientists from
the present or from th past
-The partner teachers or the students themselves upload
students’ videos to Twin Space
- All the participants watch the videos and make a
guess about the identity of the mysterious guest.
- A guessing contest is held: each time a single
student guesses a celebrity he/she is awarded one (virtual) cup
-each class has at least one videoconference with
another nationality to exchange information about Christmas/New Year’s
celebrations (December)
January:
- continuation of the guessing contest
-each class has at least one videoconference with
another nationality to play “Guess who I am” (asking yes/no questions to guess
a celebrity)
February:
- The students who have made the most guesses in the
guessing contest are awarded with certificates by the teachers.
- formation of international teams
March
·
work in
international teams: a teens’ magazine with different sections (sport, music,
human rights...)
April:
- the students share their response to the project on
the twinspace (Google survey?)

We are firmly convinced that videoconferences are
important because they give students the opportunity to talk face to face. In

The first thing to do
is to write the tapescript. Here are some tips:
·
Choose the mysterious
guest: it must be someone internationally known , like a pop star, a
politician, a sportsman/woman
·
Find information on
the web about your mysterious guest
·
Write the interviewer's
questions and the guest's answers
·
Don’t mention the
mysterious guest’s name in the interview
·
Give enough clues for
your mates to guess the mysterious guest
When you film your answers keep in mind
these tips:
·
you can use your phone as a camera but
remember to keep it horizontally!
·
stabilise your phone/camera
(don't shake while filming!)
·
avoid having light (for example a
window) right behind you
·
speak clearly so that your
answers are understandable
·
Try to sound natural and lively
·
When you edit, remember to use royalty-free images
and music
Have fun!

evaluation of the project
https://answergarden.ch/3237643
In
general, students are satisfied with the structure and activities of the
project. There is not any remarkable activity or part of the project that
they would like to remove. The most popular activities, the ones that were
the most attractive to the students, were the kahoots (to know
about their partners’ countries) and the video calls, which at
the same time are the ones which the students would like to add or repeat throughout
the project’s life.
It‘s
true that we planned to organise some videocalls between only two countries,
since we had previously experienced the difficulty to manage these online
meetings with many students (they are big groups) and our experience had not
been very successful. There are usually technical problems and in case we have
to organise meetings with smaller groups of participants in order to avoid too
much noise, we need personal support from other teachers, so it’s sometimes
difficult to manage and agree on a date. In our case, the Spanish and the
Italian goup had a first meeting with a previously prepared schedule of
questions that the students would make each other. This meeting was not
technically very successful but the students could see their faces, ask and
answer about some personal information and they enjoyed the moment; we tried to
organise another video call later with the Turkish group but then the unlucky
news from Turkey due to the earthquakes didn’t allow us to have it.
